Jamie Waugh is results focused. Providing practical, quality, cost effective advice to his clients. Whether negotiating, offering high level strategic advice, making submissions to a Judge or closing a jury trial, he tenaciously strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients. Jamie was admitted to the bar in 2004, commencing practise as a barrister in 2011.
He has experience in civil and family litigation (in the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court and Family Court), employment law (regularly appearing as Counsel at MBIE mediations and in the Employment Relations Authority), and criminal defence work (from drink driving and limited licences to jury trials for murder, and everything in between).
In his civil and family practise Jamie works closely with James Gilbert - James’ careful, considered analytical approach to the law and his academic and research background makes him an invaluable asset to clients involved in complex civil and family litigation. James skill set complements Jamie’s natural ability as an advocate and persuasive skills, allowing the team to deliver the best possible results for clients.
In his criminal practise Jamie works closely with Elliot Copeland - Elliot understands clients’ needs, and delivers real and meaningful results. He has a good understanding of the law, and high level research and written advocacy skills. Like Jamie, Elliot has the ability to stand up and fight for clients, even when the odds are stacked against them.
